Summary

Fantastic statement from Attenborough of the damage to our Planet and his vision for correcting it。 Loses 2 stars because it could have included so much more depth! I felt that the book was only just getting started。 Very easy and enjoyable read, however。

This is a seminal work from David Attenborough and should be read by everyone。 The entire human population needs to work together to have a future and this book lays out where we are now and what the future will be depending on how we all respond。 I was a rollercoaster but,on completion, leaves me with a sense of hope。

This should be mandatory reading for everyone

Äänikirjan lukijana tuttu luontodokumenttien miellyttävä ääni Jarmo Heikkinen。 Aihe äärettömän tärkeä, mutta periaatteessa kaikki jo tiedossa, miten tieto tavoittaisi ne maailman päättäjät, joiden panosta tarvitaan? Ahdistavaa ajoittain, pientä toivonpilkahdusta lopussa。 Yritän tehdä parhaani, jotta kaunis, upea maapallomme jäisi tuleville sukupolville edes hiukan parempana。

I enjoyed this book。It was fairly basic, but I still learned lots。 Great read that I recommend for any environment-interested readers。 Surprised this won the Goodreads award over some of the other books I enjoyed last year, but still a great read。🌍🌎🌏3。1/5

This book affected me greatly - more than any other。 It is a hard read - the information is clear and shocking but real。 But it is an important read - keep going - the first half is tough but the second offers much hope and positive messages。

Sir David Attenborough has spent nearly 70 years teaching us about the natural world。 At 94, his job isn't finished。 In this incredible book published last year, he describes the swiftly declining state of our planet over the last 85 years, the disastrous path in which it is headed if we refuse to change our ways, and how we can drastically improve not just the environment, but ensure our own survival if we choose to rethink our priorities。 At 221 pages, this is a shorter read, but the informati Sir David Attenborough has spent nearly 70 years teaching us about the natural world。 At 94, his job isn't finished。 In this incredible book published last year, he describes the swiftly declining state of our planet over the last 85 years, the disastrous path in which it is headed if we refuse to change our ways, and how we can drastically improve not just the environment, but ensure our own survival if we choose to rethink our priorities。 At 221 pages, this is a shorter read, but the information contained in this book couldn't be more important。 Attenborough ends on a hopeful note, "Everything is set for us to win。 We have a plan。 We know what to do。 There is a path to sustainability。 It is a path that could lead to a better future for all life on Earth。 We must let our politicians and business leaders know that we understand this, that the vision for the future is not just something we need, it is something, above all, that we want。" If you think the destruction of our natural world is far in the future, if you think our impact on the Earth couldn't possibly be big enough to influence it in drastic ways, if you think there's nothing that can be done, Sir David Attenborough will set you straight。 I don't know of another person who has had a front-row seat to the changes that have occurred in nature worldwide over the past 7 decades。 It seems to me we should be listening to what he has to say。 。。。more

A very engaging and eye opening book。 Elaborates on subjects you may have heard of but don't know much about as well as revealing those which you've never even considered。 A very engaging and eye opening book。 Elaborates on subjects you may have heard of but don't know much about as well as revealing those which you've never even considered。 。。。more

I can confidently say this is the most eye-opening book I've ever read。 Please read A Life on Our Planet to fully and realistically understand what is happening to our planet right now, and what will happen if we don't realize the disaster we've created for ourselves。 Protect biodiversity。 Eat plant-based to reduce deforestation from meats。 Stop overfishing。 We can most defiantly stop this unsustainable way of living, and I for one now know。 I can confidently say this is the most eye-opening book I've ever read。 Please read A Life on Our Planet to fully and realistically understand what is happening to our planet right now, and what will happen if we don't realize the disaster we've created for ourselves。 Protect biodiversity。 Eat plant-based to reduce deforestation from meats。 Stop overfishing。 We can most defiantly stop this unsustainable way of living, and I for one now know。 。。。more

This is an important book and it sends an urgent yet positive message to the humankind。 We are destroying ourselves by damaging our surroundings; the so-called better life full of unnecessary materials that contributed significantly to the greenhouse effect, which eventually led to an inhabitable environment for humans。 But we still have time and a chance to change。 A handful countries have started already, New Zealand as a pioneer did a miracle job on restoring wild life and defending coronavir This is an important book and it sends an urgent yet positive message to the humankind。 We are destroying ourselves by damaging our surroundings; the so-called better life full of unnecessary materials that contributed significantly to the greenhouse effect, which eventually led to an inhabitable environment for humans。 But we still have time and a chance to change。 A handful countries have started already, New Zealand as a pioneer did a miracle job on restoring wild life and defending coronavirus pandemic; Morocco, Denmark, Singapore 。。。 have started green projects in urban area。。。etc。 It shows that we do not simply need to change our lives to be more sustainable, nor we must, but we want to。 We want to live in a world that the resources are infinite, self sustained, and natural。 We can still make it so if we start living sustainably。 Why wait! 。。。more

This book ought to be compulsory reading in every secondary school - it is that important。It is also, as one might expect, very well written and makes the case for change really well。 It deals with a serious and existential threat yet leaves us with hope。

I got angry, I got sad, I felt hopeful, then back to angry and sad。。。。。 You can't argue with anything in this book as far as I can see, and it leaves two distinct messages。。。。。。。 We're on a dangerous (fatal) path。。。。。 But it can still be changed。 Beautifully written as always。 I got angry, I got sad, I felt hopeful, then back to angry and sad。。。。。 You can't argue with anything in this book as far as I can see, and it leaves two distinct messages。。。。。。。 We're on a dangerous (fatal) path。。。。。 But it can still be changed。 Beautifully written as always。 。。。more

Kaikki kunnia David Attenborroughlle hänen elämän työstään, arvostan sitä todella, mutta tämä kirja ei tarjonnut asiasisällöltään minulle uutta tietoa。 Odotin hieman syvemmälle tai laajemmalle menevää pohdintaa ratkaisuista nykytilanteeseen, vaikka näin jälkeenpäin ajateltuna se on ehkä mahdoton tehtävä laajuutensa takia。 Kirjasta jäi minulle hieman hajanainen vaikutelma, mielenkiintoisia yksityiskohtia kuitenkin。 Olisi ehkä toiminut fyysisenä kirjana paremmin kuin audiona?Attenboroughn perintön Kaikki kunnia David Attenborroughlle hänen elämän työstään, arvostan sitä todella, mutta tämä kirja ei tarjonnut asiasisällöltään minulle uutta tietoa。 Odotin hieman syvemmälle tai laajemmalle menevää pohdintaa ratkaisuista nykytilanteeseen, vaikka näin jälkeenpäin ajateltuna se on ehkä mahdoton tehtävä laajuutensa takia。 Kirjasta jäi minulle hieman hajanainen vaikutelma, mielenkiintoisia yksityiskohtia kuitenkin。 Olisi ehkä toiminut fyysisenä kirjana paremmin kuin audiona?Attenboroughn perintönä kirja toimii mainiosti ja jää muistuttamaan meitä luonnon tärkeydestä ja arvosta。 。。。more
